Non-urgent notifications (room messages, direct messages) are held and summarised for you when quiet hours end. Announcements from your instructor always come through.
Pick at least two people. Like all conversations here: no editing or deleting, and any member can download the full log. Your instructor can't see this chat unless someone flags a message in it.
Anyone you add can read the whole conversation from the start. The group will see that they were added.
There are two ways to flag, depending on the content of the post.
Flagging marks the message "under review" for everyone (including its author,
who is notified — but never told who flagged), and opens an anonymous
channel between you and your instructor.
Anonymous means anonymous: who-flagged is not stored anywhere, so access
to that channel lives only in this browser — clear your cookies or switch
devices and it's gone (you can download its log any time).
You can add context below if you want. Leaving it empty is completely
fine — a flag needs no justification.
This is different from an anonymous flag. Flagging under your name
hides the post immediately for everyone until your instructor reviews it —
no one can click to reveal it.
Because it's attributed to you, your instructor sees that you raised it.
Use this when a post clearly needs to come down now (for example, something
genuinely offensive).
There are no consequences for flagging a post that genuinely breaks the
community guidelines and hiding it to protect the rest of the class — that's
exactly what this is for.
This message is your instructor's own, so the normal flag system (which your instructor reviews) would be the wrong referee. You have two routes:
All optional except the animal. These show on your card for coursemates.
You've now seen every profile card in your courses. Now what? Honestly, no idea. There's no prize. You just have excellent completionist instincts and I respect that.
This is how you appear to everyone, everywhere — including on messages you've already sent. Changing it updates those too, so nothing under your old name is left behind. No one is notified.
It can't be one that could be mixed up with someone else in your course, and you can change it once a day.
Entirely optional — leave everything blank if you'd rather not share. Pick any that apply, or write your own.
Pick just one and we'll show it in full (she/her). Pick more than one — or add your own alongside a preset — and we'll show them together, e.g. she/her + they/them displays as she/they.
The author will see "removed by an instructor" on their own message; everyone else will see it's gone. Your reason goes to the moderation log and seeds a notification draft in the dashboard — it is not shown in the room.
This is your name and face for the whole semester.
No take-backs. All semester. This is it.
Last chance. We're all going to be looking at this for months.
This starts a private conversation. Like all conversations here, it can't be edited or deleted, and either of you can download the full log. Your instructor can't see it unless someone flags a message in it.
This is a serious step. Flagging immediately:
· locks this conversation for both of you
· puts both of you — including you — in a 12-hour Time Out from the main chat
· opens a private channel between each of you and your instructor
The Time Out applies equally and implies no blame either way. Your instructor reviews the conversation and responds to you both.
